Veritas Writing Club

A quiet corner of the internet for human writing.

Letter

I want to read real writing again. I love reading books, but we all have a lived human experience that shouldn’t be gated by publishers or require us to grow an account on a social media platform in order to get eyeballs on our work. I wanted to create a platform for those of us who love the art of writing, but don’t have a place for those musings to go. I want this to grow into a cultivated group of authentic writers and readers. Please do your best to refrain from using AI to write for you. I want your thesis. I want your observations. I want your cross-outs and smudges. I want this to be a corner of the internet where authenticity is nurtured. There are no likes, comments, or algorithms that will boost your writing here. That’s what will make this really special.

On the topic of technology, this is why I ask for a one-time initiation fee of $2. The fee is a small threshold to help keep the room human, discourage bots, and protect the space from the tired, inauthentic content that now fills so much of the web. I hope this feels fair. If the fee is a barrier for you, please email veritaswritingclub[at]gmail.com.

Let your imagination wander, let your pen hit paper. Cross things out, scribble. It doesn’t need to be perfect. In fact, embrace the fact that you’re human.

What You Can Expect

  1. Each Saturday, the previous week’s letters are published and a new prompt is released. You are always welcome to check in here, and I will also send an email reminder.
  2. You’ll have until Friday night to submit your response. For now, submissions will be typed directly into the site. You may sign with your real name, a pen name, or remain anonymous.
  3. On Saturday morning, the letters from the previous week will be published inside the club for members to read.
  4. We will repeat the cycle each week with a new prompt.
  5. There are no likes, comments, rankings, or discussions under a post. The letters are the discussion.
  6. No ads. No algorithms. No engagement farming. No paid promotions.

What I Expect of You

  1. Again, please refrain from using AI to write for you. We all want to hear your thoughts as they come naturally to you. While it's not an explicit rule, it has become very obvious when writing is entirely done by AI. I want to keep this platform as natural as it can be.
  2. Be kind to yourself and to others. This is not a place to dox people you know or leave their personal information available for others. Please be respectful.

This platform intentionally moves away from the traditional social media landscape. This isn't for doomscrolling or "like farming" and it will be obvious to you very shortly. I hope that, together, we cultivate a quiet and intentional corner of the internet away from algorithms, away from AI, and bringing back some connection within our ever digital world.
