Veritas Writing Club

I want to read real writing again. Not something workshopped to perfection or optimized to perform well. I mean writing that someone sat with deliberately to find out what they were trying to say. If you're here, I imagine some part of you wants that too. I love books, but I also think that there are so many people carrying extraordinary observations around with them and I think those thoughts deserve a place to go.

That's why I made Veritas Writing Club.

I wanted to create a place for people who like writing, thinking, reading, pondering, and noticing and I specifically wanted it to be a place where you do not have to grow an audience, catch an algorithm, or become an internet personality for your writing to be read.

There will be a prompt each week. You can write a little or a lot. Be funny, sentimental, direct, wandering, unfinished, or polished, however you naturally write. You can sign your name, a pen name, or remain anonymous.

The hope is simple: you write something real, and you get to read what other real people wrote too. There are no likes here. No comments. No rankings. No engagement farming. Consider it a reset for your mimetic desires.

Because this only works if the room stays human, I ask for a one-time initiation fee of $2. The fee is a small threshold to help keep the room human, discourage bots, and protect the space from the tired, inauthentic content that now fills so much of the web. I hope this feels fair. I ask that you please do your best to refrain from using AI to write for you. I know we are all surrounded by these tools now, but this particular room is meant for human writing. I want your thesis. I want your observations. I want your odd sentence that only makes sense after you read it twice. I want the thing you almost deleted but didn’t. Let your imagination wander. It doesn’t need to be perfect. In fact, embrace the fact that you’re human.

What You Can Expect

1. Creative freedom to write as much or as little as you like about the given topic. The topic will follow different themes week over week to keep it engaging.
2. Each Saturday, the previous week’s letters are published and a new prompt is released.
3. You’ll have until the following Friday night to submit your response.
4. Letters are briefly reviewed before they appear. This is not about judging polish, grammar, or literary quality. It is only to keep out spam, harassment, doxxing, obvious AI-generated submissions, and anything that violates the spirit of Veritas.
5. There are no likes, comments, rankings, or discussions under a post. No ads. No paid promotions.
6. We will repeat the cycle each week.

What I Expect of You

1. Please write in your own voice. We all want to hear your thoughts as they come naturally to you.
2. Be kind to yourself and to others. This is not a place to dox people you know or leave their personal information available for others. Please be respectful.

This platform intentionally moves away from the traditional social media landscape. This isn't for doomscrolling or "like farming" and it will be obvious to you very shortly. I hope, together, we can make this a quiet and intentional corner of the internet. Somewhere away from algorithms, away from AI, and a little closer to one another.
